Experience Ireland’s Agricultural Heritage
Agricultural Heritage Museum
While staying at Coolakay House why not visit our Agricultural Heritage Centre which represents Irelands farming heritage. It shows the evolution of Irish farm life from the early 1800’s up to the present day. Some of the farm implements and machinery were actually used by Robert grandparents and father. As the museum is on a working farm it shows a lovely contrast between the past and present.
In the museum you can see everything from pony trap, Deutz Tractors to milk churns. Some of the tractors on display have earned Robert awards in shows for best restored tractors. The hand-threshing mill on display is one of only 3 in Ireland and dates back to the mid 1800s and is an early example replacing the flail used for many centuries.
